Ed Newman received his BSEE in 1969, his MSEE in 1970 and his Ph.D. in 1974 all from The Ohio State University. He is currently a Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Research Interests
Dr. Newman's research involves the application of integral equation and method of moments (MM) techniques to electromagnetic radiation and scattering problems. He is the primary author of the Elecgtromagnetic Surface Patch Code (http://esl.eng.ohio-state.edu/codes/esp5_sum.php) which is a user-oriented code capable of modeling general shapes as an interconnection of wires, polygonal plates, and polygonal dielectric volumes. Other areas of current research include radar cross section control, antenna optimization, EM shielding, wideband impedance matching, and self calibrating DOA arrays.
