Ryan hails from Louisville, KY. He received a BS in computer science in 2002 and a second BS in electrical engineering in 2003, both from the University of Kentucky. He came to OSU to work on his MS and was offered a University Fellowship. He obtained his Masters in Spring 2005, and is continuing his work towards a Ph.D. funded as a Northrup-Grummon fellow.
His research interests include RF photonics, electromagnetic wave propagation in exotic media, time domain numerical methods for ultra-wideband antenna design, unstructured mesh generation and high performance parallel computing. He is studying under Robert Lee and also directs the ESL Student Presentation Series
