Guangdong grew up in Anhui Province, China. He received his BS in 1992 from the Cheng-Du Institute of Geology. After working for some years, he went back to school and earned his MS in Cartography and Remote Sensing in 1998 from the Chinese Academy of Science, where he continued working as a researcher for several years before coming to the States. He earned a second MS in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska in 2003 before coming to OSU and ESL where he is currently working on his Ph.D. His area of interest is microwave remote sensing and numerical methods. His advisor is Joel Johnson.
